HAYDEN PANETTIERE CAN SING?

We all know that “Heroes” is still in hiatus and we are all anticipating for its comeback season but do we know that the famous cheerleader we all loved in the TV series is launching a music career? Oh, I didn’t see this coming and I have no idea that Hayden Panettiere can carry a tune or two.

According to billboard.com, Candie is teaming up with Hayden to promote “Wake Up Call”, the lead single from Panettiere’s upcoming yet still-untitled debut album slated for 2009.

Candie is known to link its teen clothing line to a young female music act with the likes of Fergie, whom was the last deal last summer and whose songs “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and “Glamorous” were promoted in Candie’s TV commercials.  The ad campaign for Panettiere will begin airing at the end of July.

“Wake Up Call”, not the Maroon 5 single, is a reggae-flavored pop song that was written by Andreas “Quiz” Romdhane and Josef Larossi, will be released digitally on August 5.

Sounds like Claire Bennett got a lot of things to do aside from cheerleading and saving the world.  She also has to practice singing, rehearse lip synching, go out on tour and of course, make tons of TV appearances in promoting her album.

Hayden Panettiere can sing? I’m interested to hear her.  Oh I hope she wouldn’t break a leg – I mean her leg like it did in the series.  It will definitely hurt a lot.  But still, save the cheerleader, save the world!!!

AMERICAN IDOL SEASON 7 FINALE

Congratulations David Cook for winning the 7th season of the most popular show in American television, the American Idol.

So did I really root for David Cook to win or did I bet on the other David?  Okay, I admit.  I’ve really wanted David Archuleta to win the title instead of the older David.  I have all cards for “Archie” during the finals and I thought that he would definitely win the competition after watching his performances.  I mean his renditions, in my point of view, were way off the hook than Cook’s.  The three songs he performed, all ballads though, have been perfectly and smoothly done.  He really wowed me and as what Paula Abdul felt, I felt the goose bumps too by listening to his singing prowess.  I even recalled Simon Cowell saying that “it was a knockout” so I thought that obviously, Archie will bring home the bacon.

So when the announcement of the big winner came, there came my disappointment too.  It’s Cook who have been chosen by 12 million people to win the prize.  But that’s okay.  I have nothing against Cook.  In fact, he’s voice is even bigger than the younger David’s and he can sing with high notes and all.  I just feel Archie’s chords better because he sings from the heart – it is as if he’s singing from the heart.

Anyway, as Simon said, “I don’t care anymore whoever wins.” I’m pretty much sure that both David’s will get their own singles and records out soon.  Their journey is just beginning and we’ll see in time who comes out on top of the other in terms of commercial success.

Oh, I think David Cook’s winning single is out already.  So there…

THE SURVIVOR

Talking about reality TV series, Survivor is the very first show to catch my critically discerning taste of good television formats.  I used to be a couch potato until I worked in a call center and the graveyard shift took away all things healthy and enjoyable including the important people in my life.  The nature of my job is time restraining I can’t even find time for myself.  Well, I have lots of time after work but I rather spend it for sleeping.  Now let’s get back to the topic.

The first time I watched the show was back in college.  Note that I started with the second season, the Australian Outback, where I have seen two beautiful contenders – Amber Brkich and Elizabeth Filarski.  Again, because of my ignorance, I have no idea that I’m watching the second installment of the series.  Am I really from this planet?

Anyway, as the years passed by, I have seen how much the show have grown and the last time I checked, the US TV program is currently airing its sixteenth season.  Imagine that!  Wait, season 16?  I thought there were only 12 seasons and then they will call it quits thereafter? Oh my, what have I missed? Sigh, so much for working in graveyards.  I summed up the seasons that did not lurk to my senses.  Here they are:

That’s 8 seasons missed and makes me 50% addicted to Survivor.  Am I a survivor???
